How To Prepare for CTET?

CBSE started conducting Central Teacher Eligibility Test in 2011. Clearing CTET is now mandatory to get a teaching job in government schools. In fact, leading private schools also prefer CTET qualified teachers for recruitment. Therefore, if you plan to take up the noble profession of teaching, taking the CTET is very important.

The competition is intense. CTET is conducted twice a year and every time 8-10 lac teachers appear for CTET, but only a few thousand actually clear the exam. The qualification mark is set at 60% (i.e. 90 out of maximum of 150). Since the beginning, less than 10% applicants have cleared the exam and in the exam held in November 2012, only 1% applicants qualified.
However, don’t be disheartened. With the right guidance and preparation, clearing CTET is not that difficult. If you are eligible to take the exam, you should already be familiar with all the concepts. You need to brush up the concepts and make sure you understand them well. The questions check your understanding of the concepts and not your ability to remember facts.

Also, like all competitive exams, an important element in your preparation is test taking practice.  We recommend taking at least 8-10 full length tests in the two to three months prior to the real exam. Sitting for 150 minutes for an exam is going to be tough if you don’t do this. Many applicants underestimate the effort and conditioning required to solve 150 questions in the two and a half hours. Don’t make this mistake.
Assessments, as you would already know, play an important role in learning. It is important to review these tests after you attempt them, to lock in your learning.
